Membership Options and Cost
AAFCS-Texas Affiliate membership is composed of approximately 450 family and consumer science professionals. Membership in the AAFCS and the AAFCS-Texas Affiliate are simultaneous.

Student (Enrolled full time as a post-secondary, undergraduate or graduate student; see HUGS on Student Unit page for special offer).

Active (Baccalaureate degree or higher; professional-level certification or professional-level licensure in FCS or related field).

Published four (4) times a year; this Journal features peer-reviewed, scholarly articles and trends, issues, and practical information to help you in your job.

AAFCS-TX Affiliate Newsletter - This is the official newsletter of AAFCS-Texas Affiliate.  It is published twice per year and sent online. For those that have no email address, a hard copy is mailed.  The Annual Meeting edition is mailed to every member.

AAFCS-Texas Research Journal - This is the Texas affiliate’s own annual research journal, featuring peer-reviewed, scholarly articles and information.

Periodic Member Updates and News of Employment Opportunities
Members may access the national AAFCS Career Connection at www.aafcs.org.  Texas members who register their e-mail addresses with the AAFCS-Texas Affiliate listserv will receive additional notice of FCS employment opportunities, as information becomes available.

Advocacy Efforts - AAFCS represents you and your professional concerns with Congress, the media, and among policy makers. Your membership makes us collectively stronger.

Certifications and Accreditation - AAFCS offers exams for assessment of professional competencies and certifications for family and consumer sciences professionals. AAFCS is the sole accreditation agent in the United States for higher education institutions and units offering programs in family and consumer sciences.
